Use Me Lord: Use All That I Have Got

It’s exactly 5:40 am on 4th February 2016 and I stumble upon Oprah Winfrey’s Acceptance Speech for Lifetime awards in 1998 – honestly not sure what even that was but here’s something that struck me as she spoke ‘God Use Me’. OK. I have prayed this prayer like a million times but this morning at now exactly 5:52am, I am praying it differently. The difference? With Understanding and Intent.

Lord use me – I am not sure how, when, to who nor with what. But I sure want to be used by you. Use my hair texture, my skin colour, my accent and my name – just use me.

Lord use me - Use me whenever, however and for whatever - Use me in the way that you alone can possibly use me – after all, You made me.

Lord use me - My style—or no style because apparently with you, style doesn’t count. You only look at the heart – that I love!

Lord use me – My skills, knowledge and abilities – otherwise, they will be a waste. Use my creative abilities, my writing, speaking, dancing, organising. Use my running, jumping and even…walking – for every single step count.

Lord use me – My passion and excitement or the lack of it. Let my passion ignite someone else’s. Let my excitement be the energy that inspires other people.

Lord use me – My personality; even though sometimes it doesn’t look like I fit into any of the personality types, quadrants or models, I bet there is definitely one that I fit in – that one which You know accurately well – after all, You made me.

Lord use me – My pains and gains, tears and fears and my struggles and troubles. YES, use it all. Why bother taking me through so much for…not much?

Lord use me – My happiness, joy and laughter, these count too don’t they? Let my happiness make others happy. Let my laughter be an expression of love to others.

Lord use me – Not just me, but my family, my colleagues, my stage, country and nation. Success will be too lonely with just me – build a tribe of people used by You.

And oh, LORD, use me NOW.
