What You Know Will Not Change You

Before you shoot, please hear me out – I am just a messenger. I listened to a pastor teach recently and he made this statement ‘It is not what you know that changes you. It is what you KNOW, UNDERSYANT and APPLY that will change you’.
Now you see why you couldn’t have shot me. Have you wondered why some people seem to make progress off the same information that you also have access to? The difference is that they took it beyond just knowing, to understanding and then finally applying it to their lives. That is when true change and transformation occurs.
In its simplest definition, understanding means ‘to perceive the intended meaning of (words, a language, or a speaker) or to interpret or view (something) in a particular way’. This means that information is the raw form while understanding converts that raw form to a more useful form. To thrive, you must aggressively immerse yourself in the practice of understanding so that you can thoroughly experience something for yourself – now that is where true transformation lies. This where you need the Holy Spirit to help you convert all information and knowledge that you receive from various sources, into practical experiences that will then transform your life. Otherwise you will be as one filled with so much but bursting away without true impact.
